This Summer, join us on Wednesdays from 6:15 - 7:30pm as we gather in groups for eight weeks to dive deeper into the Gospel of John. We are excited about putting together our own study for interactive groups based on Pastor Rob’s sermon from the previous Sunday. We will kick-off the Summer study with an ice cream fellowship on June 13th at 6:15pm! We need you to get out grandma’s homemade ice cream recipe, whip up a batch, bring it, share it, and enjoy it together!
In his book, A Meal With Jesus, Tim Chester writes,“Food matters. Meals matter. Meals are full of significance. ‘Few acts are more expressive of companionship than the shared meal . . . Someone with whom we share food is likely to be our friend, or well on the way to becoming one’. . . Meals slow things down. Some of us don’t like that. We like to get things done. But meals force you to be people oriented instead of task oriented. Sharing a meal is not the only way to build relationships, but it is number one on the list” (9-10, 47).
So come ready to learn, grow, and share insight, share food, and to share your life! It is our hope that by syncing the weekend sermon with a small-group Bible study, the repeated exposure to the Scripture passage covered will afford an opportunity to dig deeper, understand better, retain more easily, and apply the Word of God more intentionally in our lives. Having all small groups study the same material also creates a wider sense of community, unity, and common direction in the church body.
You can sign up using the perforated portion of your Sunday bulletin or by contacting info@lakemurraybaptist.org. Groups will be gender-based and meet Wednesday nights beginning June 13, from 6:15-7:30pm &. We will be meeting on 6/13, 6/20, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/1, 8/8, and 8/15.
